From Homestar Runner comes this hilariously funny game that pokes fun at itself and the text-based adventures and 8-bit graphics of years gone by. A fun and quirky classic.
The entire plot is that Trogdor the Burninator at Dragon with a big beefy arm coming out of his neck has burned down your hut and you vow revenge. The rest of the game is you, as a poor peasant, roaming the countryside in that pursuit. It's a relatively short game if you're at all familiar with the old DOS-based text adventure games from the 80's and 90's.
If you're an old hand at those, you can beat this one in a couple of hours. While the game itself is set to be a sort of parody of those games, it actually turns out to be fun in it's own right.
There's a lot of humor built into the game, and while the puzzles are pretty simple compared to, say, the King's Quest series, I feel like there's enough there to keep it interesting. The best part is that it's totally free and you can play it straight from your browser. You don't look like a peasant.
You don't smell like a peasant. And you certainly aren't on fire like a peasant.
Burninating the countryside! Burninating the peasants! Thanks, I'll take a look at this.
Though to clarify your terms, this isn't a text-based adventure, it's a graphical adventure with a text parser. Peasant's Quest - an old school adventure game of a bygone era.
